you've explained what kind of 'steampunk' you don't like (indiscriminantly glueing goggles & gears onto stuff). what is it in steampunk you do like? if you can provide links/examples, that would be cool. :)

This steampunk house Everything in the house is fully functional, not just some gears glued to the front of an oven. Gorgeous craftsmanship and some very clever designs.
